Does anybody crochet rag rugs?

I'd like to start...mostly because I want new rugs!

Are the precut fabric strips worthwhile, or over priced? Is it a whole lot cheaper to buy millends and cut the fabric yourself?

I am interested, too. What about patterns? Anyone have good ones, or links to free ones?

I guess I have never seen precut strips! I just save up fabric until I have "enough" and start slicing into strips. I also don't really use a pattern but I'll dig around and see if I can't find one.

My grandma used to make rugs out of scrap/recycled material. But, I have no idea how she made them. And she is long gone.
