What's the deal with Maya Wraps?

A friend told me that Mothering had printed information about Maya Wraps being dangerous. I haven't been able to find anything about that. I figured if anyone would know - you all would!!! Our LLL group is considering selling the Wraps as a fundraiser, so I thought I'd check out this information on the Mothering boards first. Does anyone know anything about this?

I hadn't heard anything about them being dangerous either. About 1-1/2 years ago there was a recall on the rings used in Maya Wrap carriers. But that was all quite a while ago and has been rectified by now. I love mine (which was repaired quickly at no cost) and still tote my 24-pound toddler around with no worries about safety. Good luck with your fundraiser.

That's the only thing I know about too. Form the Maya site:

Maya Wrap had a recall on Maya Wrap Slings with 1/8" rings purchased between Jan 1, 2001 and July 31, 2002. Rings that 1/4" thick were not recalled. Recalled Slings do not have lot numbers in them. If you think you may have a recalled sling please contact LeeSa@mayawrap.com to arrange for repair.
