losing weight in breasts, help!

Hi there,
I am trying to heal a couple of cavities without filling them. I also have periodontal disease, according to my dentist. I just feel better in general when I eat a higher protein diet and less carbs, and avoid grains. I have great energy, no brain fog, and my teeth don't hurt. I am basically eating protein and vegetables right now, as of about a week ago. The problem is that I am losing weight very quickly (I did also want to lose about 15 pounds, but no more). I've already lost about 7. But it's all come out of my breasts! They were already shrinking from years of nursing!! Usually when I go back to eating this way, I lose in my stomach, which feels great, but I am really quicklt losing in my boobs. What can I do? I am allergic to dairy (cow AND goat)! So I can't do the yogurt and stuff. Even when I try raw milk.

Any advice for me before they shrivel into nothing?? I don't want to stop eating this way, because I feel so much better, and after this week it has really broken my addiction to the carbs!

Thanks!

Given your choices, I'd up the fat. Coconut oil, perhaps? Recipes/suggestions in Traditional Foods. I _think_ losing weight in the chest is somewhat hormonal--I know my breasts are smaller than in ages, partly I'm sure to pregnancy/nursing/pregnancy/nursing and now not nursing, but I think part is my hormones which are all weirded out. If that's it for you, maybe it's a temporary thing as your body makes a lot of changes rapidly. Take care!

This thread is great. Didnt have time to go through all of it. I just switched to organic milk because i couldnt find raw, but i just have!!! I noticed the enamel of my teeth cracking and am very stressed about it. Would like to know if anyone experienced this or has any ideas?

you could look at tissue salts, specifically calc flour and calc phos....silica may be a good option as well as it assists in utilization of minerals.

Wow....great thread......it took me the entire day, on and off, but I made it through the 27 pages

My son (13 months) has cavities/tooth decay in 3 of his front teeth, and after a horrible experience with an insensitive and ignorant "pediatric dentist" yesterday (who mainly recommended I "wean my son ASAP since the teeth problems are caused by nursing" , I am now researching alternatives.

My biggest problem:

I looked at the greenpastures-website for the butter oil and the CLO, but I'm in Alaska, and they want about 35 $ shipping costs for only 3 bottles (I did a comparison with a zipcode from the lower 48, and it was 13 $ for the same order). I really wish those companies would also use the postal service, not just UPS

I read on page 20 or so that there was a coop formed for ordering from that website to take advantage of the lower bulk prices....is that coop (or any other one) still in existence.....? And if yes, would you let me join, even if I'm not local, and ship my orders to me? Or would anyone else in the lower 48 be interested in doing a group order with the lower prices, and then sending me my share with USPS, e.g. in a flat rate box?

I also have looked at some supplements on the vitaminshoppe.com website (free delivery, even to AK, if you reach min. order amount ), but I'm getting confused.....I think I'd like "something green" and "something probiotic".....would this be a good choice?
http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/e...jsp?id=GU-1087

Or could you recommend anything else?

And then about "Trace minerals".....that garden of life product contains "perfect protein mineral matrix"....is that something like trace minerals or would I have to get something else for that....? (If yes, is there anything on vitaminshoppe that you'd recommend?)

Another question:
I read in this thread that some people are using extra virgin coconut oil......would I just use that instead if the olive oil/butter I'm using now, e.g. for frying? Is it a good idea to switch to that? And would this brand be ok?
http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/store/e...jsp?id=GU-7001
Or does it have to be a higher priced one like the one from greenerpasture?

I hope my questions are not toooooo dumb.....I got pretty confused, there really is a lot of information in this thread (and I'm still working on the tooth soap and the xylitol, too )

Basically, what I'm looking for is to be able to order most of the things that were recommended throughout this thread without having to pay exorbitant shipping charges for it (the companies always stick it to us Alaskans . I'm a SAHM, and money is tight, but I definitely want to do all I can do to stop my son's tooth decay.

I know that those independent websites probably have the better products but maybe for some things I could find a "runner up" on the vitaminshoppe-website that's acceptable...?

Therefore, if one of you knowledgeable ladies could give me a few pointers as to how/where to get the best start, I'd really, really appreciate it

Many thanks in advance,

Charlie

One more question....I read that most use the perfect prescription toothsoap, but a couple wrote they use the Dr Bronner soap....just personal preference, or is one better than the other...?

Oh, and one more (after that, I'll go to sleep, I promise ):

If I want to order a variety of xylitol products (e.g. spiffy wipes, candies, xylosweet powder, etc.), is there a website that carries all? I found only various websites with EITHER wipes OR the xylosweet OR the candies.....

Well, Im confused about xylitol in general. Some people are saying it works, others are saying that sugarless gum with xylitol is bad for teeth. So confused as well. Im not really into the tooth soap just yet, still using regular tooth paste.

I can imagine a $35 shipping being shocking. I was so shocked at the $13 I didnt order it. I just got my book in the mail though which came with a 25% off coupon thankfully!!!

I hadnt heard of the coop for lower shipping but I will look into it. I would be interested in that. Also, Im not too sure about substitutions. I have read that the vitamin butter oil can be substituted with a slightly larger dose of yellow butter daily. I havent found yellow butter yet but I'm looking. I'm not sure at this point how you feel about raw milk at this point, considering your nursing, but that seems to be one of the main beneficial things to turn decay around. I have a link to the farms selling raw milk nationwide. I will look it up and post shortly. There was only one place where I live and it was $10 a pop!!! More than i expected. Makes me just want to buy a cow. In any event, I think if you can locate some and heat it yourself for your baby, you can avoid the so-called cautionary effects the milk can have. Let me find some links....

I think that had links to the oil as well.

You might also want to check out this link. It contains a lot of links to other useful information as well as alternative methods of halting decay. The forum there more thoroughly discussing the use of tooth soaps, etc.

I just wanted to add that I went to the dentist today and had NO CAVITIES!!! Yay! I had a major problem with them. In December 2006 I had four filled. Two years before I had 6 filled. Pretty much whenever I went to the dentist I had fillings to do!

I really loaded up on HVCLO, beef broth (I can't do milk), liver, meat, greens and kerrygold butter, and supplements with minerals and fat soluables. Another reason I did this big regime was because I wanted to be all nouirshed before conceiving baby #2. I had a vitamin D test and was still low so I fixed that with extra D3 supplements. I just had a baby 3 months ago so I made it through a pregnancy without decay!!

I just wanted to encouage everyone who is still struggling. It took me a while (I started TF in May 2006) but I am so glad it seemed to help my teeth.

What is the TF you are referring to? I havent been able to afford the HVCLO or vitamin oil. Where can i find KerryGold butter? I have been doing the raw milk for about a week. are you on a full Weston Price diet or are you cheating on some thing? I have been eating pretty healthy but I find myself reaching for the peanut butter now and then. No bread, just the butter. Also, how are you making your beef broth? or bone broth? With grass-fed or just more meat in general? Im having trouble finding balance. ANY help is appreciated. and congrats!!!

TF is tradition foods. which is pretty much WAP.

I can get the kerrygold butter at my regular grocery store in the speciality cheese section.. It is really expensive though. Sometimes costco carries it.
How do you get kids to eat liver and organ meats? Ds will not touch them.
I can get Kerrygold at Trader Joes for a good price too.

I make bone broth (usualy simmered for 24-48 hours) with beef bones from a local butcher. I generally eat local, mostly grassfed beef because I cannot afford total grassfed at this point in life. I also buy the sale meat from a local higher-quality grocery store.

LIVER--My 3 yo will eat liver if I grind it in the food processor and add a portion to a ground beef dish (like meatloaf, meatballs, hamburgers) or the chicken liver pate on crackers. Sometimes he likes ketchup with that.

You can make your own peanut butter and then not feel guilty. There are recipes in Nourishing Traditions for various nut butters.

Before our move, which upended all my good routines, I bought extra bones to make beef broth. We don't eat as much meat as it would take to provide as much broth as I wanted us to consume (no dairy for us), and for financial reasons, I just bought whatever bones I could afford. But I aimed for pastured meat most/all of the time.

And congrats newcastlemama! Stories like that are inspiring while we're down in the trenches trying to fix our health stuff. Thank you for sharing!

thoroughly confused but intrigued. Please bear with me on the questions-thanks.
I have a big cavity I want to heal-also would just like a good supplement-I am planning on getting butter oil, cod liver oil...but do I need a mineral supplement on top of that? Any good recommendations?
Also, any side effects from the butter oil? I tend to be sensitive. Also, I am nursing a little guy not yet 3 months old.
Any responses are appreciated!thanks!

Also, what else is butter oil good for? I mean, how else does it affect the body? thanks

finding a weston price friendly dentist?

I've been searching for a dentist with Weston Price inclinations, but haven't been able to find one. We're in Portland,OR, but I'm willing to find someone in another state who would be interested in email or telephone consultation. Anyone have experience with such a dentist? So far, the only pediatric dentist I've brought my daughter to (with her sad little breastfed, cavity ravaged teeth) told me to stop breastfeeding and had never even heard of Weston Price!

I suppose I should not be so worried about getting a professional opinion and just stick with what we're doing, but I'm just extra worried since one of her little teeth was chipped recently, right where a great deal of decay had formed, and now the inside of the tooth can be seen. She doesn't seem to be in any pain, but it looks so terribly nasty. Should I act fast and get it capped? I can't imagine putting my perfect little two year old sweetie pie under general anesthesia! Any words of advice?

Barb, have you tried emailing WAPF chapter leaders in your area?

My WAPF dentist is absolutely wonderful, but not sure she will do phone consults:
