SICK! Where did this come from?

Hi all,

Last night I was feeling just fine when I went to bed. Couldn't sleep as usual, so I was laying there and then started to feel kind of heartburn-y. Took some tums, but it was getting worse and my stomach was starting to cramp up. So I got up and went downstairs, barely had time to grab a bowl and proceded to throw up for the next hour or more, over and over, until I was just dry heaving. Then barely had time to make it up to the bathroom with awful diahrrea (sorry TMI!). It was like one moment I was fine, the next moment my stomach said "OUT!" to everything sitting inside!

Not really looking for answers, but I just can't figure out what is wrong with me. I barely go out, so I'm not sure that I would have picked up a bug from anywhere. I also have quite a back-ache, and have had a lot more contractions since this happened.

Well I still haven't slept, so I guess I'll try now. Sorry for the pity party, I just feel like crap.

Ew, sorry! Sounds like a touch of food poisoning or a 24-hour bug. I got something similar (with fever though) at 38 weeks with DS and went into labor 3 days later just as I was starting to feel better...it sucked!! Be careful to stay hydrated and try to rest.

Winnie,

I hope if it is the flu, that it is short lived! Stay hydrated and well rested! I had a really bad cold last week and it sucked! I took Vit. C and I think it helped, it at least made me feel like I was doing something.

The back ache, and more contractions make me wonder if it is your body gearing up for labor by getting rid of everything inside. But also could just be the flu.

Thanks, ladies. I'm not feeling too bad tonight, so maybe that was it! I still have the backache, but my back is often sore, so that really doesn't indicate anything! The contractions are pretty normal right now.

Funny, through 4 months of morning sickness early in my pregnancy, I never actually threw up once even though I felt sick ALL the time. Then last night I'm feeling fine one moment, throwing up the next! I forgot how much I hate puking.

Could be a bug...or could be a sign of impending labor! Your body often "cleans itself out" before going into labor. My good friend had this for a week before her baby was born.

My midwife mentioned yesterday at my appt that I may feel a lot of "1st trimester" symptoms as baby's birth nears...nausea/vomiting, fatigue, etc.

Make sure you stay very well-hydrated and nourished with easy-to-digest foods & get LOTS of rest (I know, hard to do!)

Thanks, MAMom - I just woke up from a four hour nap! Sweet! Four hours all in a row, imagine that...

Thanks also for the links, I didn't know Dr Sears had a website! I will be checking some other stuff out on there.

Although the idea of labour is exciting, I do hope that baby is planning on staying in for at least a couple more weeks. We have a feeling the baby will be small anyways, so he would just be too little at this point!

Glad you are feeling better. Gee, I wish I could get a 4 hour nap, I'm lucky to be left alone for 4 minutes!!!!
