Tongue clipping - Page 3

I dunno? My son had the novocaine injection, which seemed to aggravate him more than the actual cut. The dentist said the injection was better than topical, which could spread around due to saliva. He nursed immediately afterwards, even with the novocaine.

I'm most certain that it DOES hurt the baby. Babies are as capable of feeling pain as you or I---according to some research, perhaps MORE so.
You have to have nerve endings to feel pain, though. The part being snipped has few or no nerve endings in infants. It's not even suposed to exist at birth. In most people, it's temporary feature that breaks apart before birth. In some, it doesn't break on its own and needs to be cut.

jamming with a tooth brush is considerably different than a quick, well placed clip. It hurts about as much as a shot. I quick discomfort that is easily healed with a little breastmilk. It heals very quickly (there was concern that if she didn't nurse long enough it would heal back together almost instantly). She showed absolutely no signs of pain after the procedure.

My youngest riped hers and she still showed no signs of pain. If not for the blood i wouldn't have knows she did it.
