Involuntary muscle spasms in children

Thread Starter
A friend of mine has a 14 mo dd who has a lot of involuntary muscle spasms in her legs. She was worried and took her to the ped who referred her to a neurologist. He did lots of tests (MRI, CAT scans I think?) and they found nothing wrong. She has a F/U appt in 6 months, since this is unusual. I am grateful they found nothing wrong, but scared at the same time, since this is abnormal.

Have you guys been through this or know anything about it? Is it possible she will just outgrow this?

Is she healthy and developing normally other than this?
My friends ds had mitichondrial (sp?) disease...It started with weakness (slow to crawl...didn't use legs as much as other children of the same age). He used to get spasms/twitches too.
It took way too long for my friends son to be diagnosed. I would not wait for another appt...I would seek a specialist, etc. Even if just to ease my mind.

Hugs,
Liz
