DS1 (4yrs old in March) has had several mild reactions to foods in the past, Sunday he had a Severe reaction His lips swelled and turned a deep red almost purple color, his eyes swelled up and his cheeks got red and rashy. We immediatly gave him Benedryl which helped within 20minutes I was so afraid that it wouldn't help and I'd have to call 911, thankfully he was breathing ok. I took him to our Pedi on monday morning (who is the greatest Kid Dr. in the world IMO ) She prescribed an Epi-pen for us as a precautionary measure and got us in to the first Available appt with the Asthma and Allergy center here in town. That is on THursday.

Here are my questions. What should I expect from this Dr. What kind of testing should we be asking about? What kind of testing should we allow? What questions should I ask him?

Any advice or information would be appreciated thanks

Also how long does it typically take for the Allergy reaction to work through a child's body? Monday his face looked ok but today His right eye and cheek was bright red and swollen as was the right corner of his nose and mouth (actually looked a bit like chapped skin but wasn't chapped) I gave him some more benedryl because it was bothering him and seemed to be getting worse through the day.

TIA
