My patience is wearing thin!!!! DD was born at 39 weeks 1 day, so though I tried to remain open, I had it firmly in my mind this baby would be even earlier, certainly no later. Well, unless I pop the kid out before 4 am tonight, that's not gonna happen! Anybody else frustrated about being past when they thought they'd birth?

I'm so annoyed...I've got everything all ready, most of it has been set up for 2 weeks now. I am glad it's done, but OTOH I sort of wish my neatly folded diapers, little outfits, and birth tub weren't sitting there mocking me daily!

All day the past couple of days I've been working soooo hard to remind myself of what I'd preach to other people in my position - that baby will come when it's just the right time, that there may be a very good reason baby isn't coming out (not ideal position, etc.), that this won't last forever, that really it's easier in many ways when they're inside, blahblah.

But then very time I have a contraction, esp. a nice painful one, I think "Yeah! Bring it on, more of that!" And then nothing.... :

I am right there with you. Ds was born 9 days after my due date so I shouldn't be too hopeful with this one, but I've kind of thought in the back of my mind that maybe the universe would smile down on me. I've been telling people I think the baby will be a week late but secretly I was hoping it would come a week early, but since there is no baby today I guess I was wrong. To make it worse I had 5, count them FIVE people call me today to find out if I have had the baby yet . And these are people who not only should know better but are also on the top of the notification list when the baby does come (like my mother and BIL). Hello! Get a clue! I don't need people to remind me I haven't had the baby yet, my body is doing a good enough job of that on its own!

It's so hard, especially when you know that logically it is for the best and the baby will come on its own time but you are SO ready for it to be here now. Hang in there though. We've waited this long and I guess another few days (or weeks at the most) won't kill us.

I am not *quite* there yet, but I understand. I have everything set up & ready to go. I really want the baby to get here before I have to wash cat hair or chocolate milk from 2 yo sippy cups off the bassenet sheets.

Yup - I'm there with ya'! I've been having lots of contractions this entire pregnancy and never felt I'd make it to my due date with this one. But, as the date creeps up, I'm getting more and more upset! I'm trying to stay patient, but it's so darn hard!!

So sorry that the waiting is getting hard.

I've gone past term with my first two so I just keep focusing on the due date as the earliest time frame to run out of patience for me becuase otherwise its just horrible.

I have a cure for impatience! Have your entire house painted and recarpeted and remodel a few bathrooms (for starters).

I was really gun-ho about getting the baby here immediately and now I'm like "Wait until after the house is ready, kid!" lol
I didn't go into labor until 40w4d with DD so I'm not expecting any early arrivals either.

Is there anything really fun you can fill your time with until your little one gets here? Think movie marathons, good books (or magazines), shopping (window or otherwise) and my favorite- video games . Some other things I've been doing are cleaning and organizing.
And eating.
And napping.

Hang in there.

Yeah. I have to say that I've been checking this board like 3x a day lately b/c I am so sure I'll see your birth announcement Carol! That baby is just going to fall out if you go much longer! My DS was born at 38w5d and I'm not there yet but I'm sure that will seem like a huge disappointing milestone if I pass it.

Glad I'm not alone and thanks for thinking of me, Sleepymama! I'm sure hoping this baby falls out and soon, LOL! Sabdoulamama, I don't have a toddler or cat, but I feel kinda the same way - come on baby, before I have to wash/clean/etc. anything yet again! Then there are the crappy things to deal with like calling the mortgage company when they screw something up every month, my diaper bag fiascos (long story), and the fact that my mom finds a reason to call every day. Oh, and I was looking fwd to my midwife appt. this morning but they had a birth last night and had to reschedule. This, after THREE reschedules last week. Nothing worked with DH's schedule for tomorrow (he hasn't been in a while and wants to come) so now I have to wait till Monday. Good thing I'm healthy, but still, I feel like my entire life gets rearranged around whatever is convenient for everybody ELSE. Maybe that's one attractive part of giving birth...finally people will rearrange their schedules for ME!

WAHHHH, I'm really feeling pissed and whiney today! Sorry! Geez these last days and weeks are HARD.... I'm really glad y'all understand!
