Cross posting I have questions

This is a subjet dear to my so I have done a lot of homework on it. Now I have a few questions of my own. Both my DC were private practice CNM births ina local hosp birthing cntr. We have a Stand alone birth center near us. I am doing my homework before I TTC for #3. I am interested in going for a Birth center birth for this one since DH is not keen on homebirth. (I can't get him to change his mind on that one). What are the differences from what I have already experienced as opposed to what a stand alone BC can offer. Please give me some direction.

The really big thing that stands out would be the availability of anesthesia. You might also find that the midwives at the stand alone are a more naturally focused, more hands off, more patient. All of this though really depends on the personality of the midwives. CNM that work in a hosp affiliated BC are subject to the regulations and guidelines of that hospital. I think the best thing to do would be to go interview the stand alone midwives. Ask THEM how your experience would be different. See if you like what you hear.

I agree with Monica. Also keep in mind that there is nothing in a stand alone birth center that a homebirth midwife would not bring with her.
