Typoid vaccine to raise temperature!?

I am reading the book "The Scientist" by J.C.Lilly, and I bumped into this:

After John accidentally cut his foot with an ax and was taken to the hospital:
Quote (p 53-54):
>>Surgeon: "You'll have to stay here in the hospital until this heals. I will be giving you typhoid vaccine to raise your temperature to take care of possible infection in your foot."...........
Under the influence of the typhoid vaccine his fever went up to 103 for a period of three days. His foot slowly healed.>>>

Then I found this: http://www.*********/vaccine/typhoid.html
Quote: "A new vaccine will allow doctors to immunize children younger than
5 against typhoid fever, a disease that affects 16 million people worldwide
and kills 600,000 every year... "

It seems I forgot to add my comments of pure amazement and the new idea that vaccines might become "useful" for something else than originally intended - bringing to mind the prescription of the Pilll to treat acne.

Years ago there was some experiment like that with cancer. I have not heard much more about it. But the gist of it was, if they raise the temperature of the cancer patient maybe the cancer will ....???

Anyway, In a round about way they admitted that the body should go through fevers when a person is young. Maybe that does have not only healing properties but also life time protection.

And, yes, they do employ other vaccine for a 'useful' purpose. The pertussis vaccine is used to induce allergies in dogs so that they can test allergy medicine.

To me that spells, DTaP (most likely) creates allergies in the recipient. But not to worry, they've got the medicine to sell you when needed.

Just one littel personal believe - Injections of any foreign DNA create allergies sooner or later.

I was stupid enough to get the typhoid vax long, long ago before I knew squat, and I thought I was dying afterwards. I got home from the clinic with a raging fever and spent the rest of the day on the floor, I couldn't get up and boy did my arm hurt.

Were you about to travel somewhere?

From http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/...id-vaccine.htm :
"It protected more than 90% of the 5,525 Vietnamese children who received it,...."
I am curious: nowdays, is any new vax tested first on children from "civilised" countries?
And also, what exactly happened to the "guinea pig" children in the case of a failure? Where is the place for such an important piece of information?
For example (from the same link):
"The researchers plan to begin trials of the new vaccine in infants late this year." (this was 2001)
What happened to these trials?

Oh, the subject of vax trials puts me in a rage!

6 months ago I got the typhoid vaccine due to traveling. I never experienced a high fever but did have a sore arm for a while.

When I was in the Navy and went to my first training base they vaccinated everyone for Typhoid when you checked in. You didn't have orders to your next base when you got there and if you did have to go somewhere where you needed to be vaccinated against it you would not have time to complete the series. I was sick for like a week after my first one.
