(I am Hep B negative).
Keep in mind that these are just recommendations, not mandates, and not every hospital is going to attempt to comply with these recommendations. Many hospitals don't even adminster this dose, although pharma and state health departments try their hardest to get these hospitals to comply with the CDC's birth dose recommendations to administer the dose. As long as it's not a law, hospitals are not required to administer this dose and/or comply with recommendations - and neither are you.

Is the hospital still is a birth dose hospital? That's something you should find out directly from the head nurse in the hospital nursery before you deliver.

If your hospital is birth dose hospital, please take extra precautions b/c the administration of the Hep. B birth dose is considered standard practice and if you execute the blanket consent form, it will likely be administered without your specific consent. Some hospitals do have separate consent forms however. Also keep in mind that while some hospitals have separate consent forms, they ask you to sign it after they've administered the vaccine. It has happened to many mama's here.

You don't need to submit a religious exemption if you are Hep. B negative.
