Just wanted to chime in about the clothes washing thing. A month ago at my DD's preschool, a little girl with the stomach flu threw up in the classroom about 5 minutes before pickup. I rushed DD home, threw off her clothes, washed her face and hands, and she was just fine. I forgot to change my own clothes, and came down with the stomach flu the next night.
So did about 50% of the other people at school with little Typhoid Mary that day. So I really felt that changing my DD's clothes (along with her 3 1/2 years of breastmilk immunity) helped keep DD from catching the stomach flu.
Two years ago, DD and I both got the flu shot. That year, we both got the flu twice (both stomach and respiratory.) We haven't taken the flu shot since. Unfortunately, we both got the respiratory flu the past couple of weeks, and it's been hellish. I did take Tamiflu within 48 hours, and really feel like it helped me. And as miserable as we've been, I don't regret our decision to not get the flu shot.
Good luck dodging the flu germs!
