Hello, I'm New Here!!!!

Hi, My name is Juanita, and my Daughter is Celestia Soleil. She is 4 months old. We live in Union City, California. I'm a fairly young Mother and I am trying to learn everything I can! I wanted a very natural birth experience (well, at least the closest thing to it, being in a hospital), no drugs, episiotomy, etc. It was also VERY important to Breastfeed for me. Well, the birth experience didn't turn out the way I really wanted it to, even though I fought off induction for 2 weeks and while I am happy my Celestia was born healthy, I don't justify my birth like that. I did however manage to escape PPD. I started having some problems with Breastfeeding, and being a first time Mother was persuaded to bottle supplement. I knew this was wrong for me and my Daughter, because I cried and sobbed while bottle feeding her. I felt in MY heart I was the worst Mother of all! Breastfeeding was THAT important to me! So I was determined to get her back to being exclusively breastfed, like she had been for her first 3 weeks of life. She at this exact point Breastfeed's about every hour to 2 hours or whenever she wants it. Sometimes I spend the whole day in bed with her just feeding. I cannot just cut out the supplement, so a very dear friend, one I'll always be thankful for, even donated me some 'Liquid Gold' of hers so the supplement could be Real milk, rather than that fake Soy stuff!! So my Celi, receives 3 3oz. bottles a day right now, and soon it'll be none! I also have done some pretty extensive research on Vaccines (we are always learning more) and made the decision along with my Husband that we will NOT be giving these more 'harm than good' substances to our child. So far she has been 100% healthy, no colds! If I can't hold her down while she is getting shots of chemicals into her bloodstream, then there must be something telling my better judgment that it's not right for our family. After reading up on the chemicals in disposables, we decided to switch to cloth. It's amazing how these harsh chemicals are allowed in our baby's most private areas! I will not contribute to Huggies or any other corporation that continues to harm our innocent kids as a part of their greedy money making advertisements! Celestia CO-sleeps, she hates her carseat, but is parked there no matter how much she cries while in the car! My 'MayaWrap' Sling is on it's way in the mail right now as we speak and then she'll be 'worn' as well!! I have attended 1 LLL meeting, where I met Tabitha and Tristan, Lauren and Persephone, and they are a bunch of GREAT people, whom have given me so such help, advice and support, they are wonderful!! I'm still constantly learning new things, like how to make your own nursing shirt! I'm so glad they were put in my path! Also it's great to see other people my age who feel the same. I never thought people my age who felt the way I do, existed. ALL of my friends are so 'mainstream' and we have not very much in common. Although one of them is starting to do certain things like me. Tabitha told me about this site and maybe I'll meet more Moms like me! That's what I am hoping! Pleas feel free to e-mail me for conversation, advice, support or to offer it as well!!

Please boycott Nestle, let them know it's not okay to hand out formula in poor third world countries (where breastfeeding is always the method of feeding), with plump 'white' babies on the label. When Mothers run out, with no money to buy the expensive fake milk and have no milk supply established at all, some feed thier babies coffee!! 1 baby dies every 6 mins. of diarrhea This is all for a profit! Ridiculous! For more info. visit www.compleatmother.com Show Nasty Nestle we wont support thier baby killing!

Juanita,
I seriously choked up reading your post. You are such a wonderful, loving mom to your beautiful little girl. You are courageous to make changes and go against the norm. I'm very glad to know you, and I wish you the best in this journey. You have educated yourself far more than most mothers, especially the first time ones. I'm sorry that the beginning of this time has been marked with struggle. If ever Persephone and I can help you, we will be here. I bet your friend feels awfully special feeding your baby as well as her own. I love to watch my baby grow up on my milk; I bet the rewards your friend gets in knowing little Celestia is growing strong and getting back to exclusive breastfeeding with a little bit of her booby juice are just incredible. Welcome to MDC, I feel like this is a second home to me in a weird, internet, computer-y sort of way, and it feels etter with you in it.
Lauren
