If we have a girl, most likely her name will be Dori. We don't have a middle name yet.

If we have a boy, we don't have a name. We were going to use Geoffrey if our first had been a boy, but now I'm not sure. We talked about Macintosh (since my husband is a Mac fanatic) or Alaric (as in Alaric the Goth), but we tend away from names that are too unusual, so my husband probably won't go for either of those. He used to joke if we had a boy, his name would be Tiglath Pileser who was an Assyrian king, but dh wasn't really serious.

do you know of anyone who came up with funny names for their kids? like, we knew this family and their last name was Roles, and they thought

Royce for a boy
Cinnamon for a girl

they didn't actually do it, tho.

I knew a guy who's name was Robert and his last name was Roberts - I asked what his parents were thinking and he said, in all seriousness, they just weren't very imaginative. I know it's an actors name or something, but still.

A friend of mine has a last name of "Marble", and one of our other friends wanted her to name her son something very Pulp Fiction-y, Private dick sorta - Like

heck, now I can't remember. Some strong guy's name that would sound butch w/Marble.

I wanted to be a smarty and suggest some other moutain names -

k2
grand teteons - or is that something else?
kilamanjaro (altho that's kinda nice)
Rocky
Pyrenees (sp?)
Mt Ashland
Blue Ridge

how about a tongue twister?

I had my son's name picked out for probably 15 years before he was born. Dane is from the book "The Thorn Birds" and I fell in love w/the book and movie. I like names that cannot be shortened and are unique and Dane fit that. He is now 6 1/2 yo and we have never met another Dane.

With this baby (and w/Dane), I always just "knew" the sex of the baby. We did find out this time and it confirmed we were having a little girl. Again, I have loved the name Amber for about 10 years. I know that its a bit more popular than Dane, but unique in the same.

My stepson's name is Corbin, which I love. My daughter is Abigail Rose. Both my daughter's names are becoming popular, I guess, but that doesn't bother me at all. It's her name. It was her name when I was pregnant with her, and all discussion ceased the moment we chose it. It was the right thing, and I think it's beautiful. Rose honors my family, too. I guess it doesn't bother me if there are other Abigails, because this is MY Abigail. She is her own person, unique and amazing, and somebody else having the name doesn't rob her of that in the slightest.

For our next baby, the middle name will be Stuart no matter what the gender. We like Ethan, Jack, Rory, Mary. I also liked Grayson a lot, but DH didn't go for it.

Well, if we have a boy, my husband insists on a Jr, so It'll be James David. I actually don't like the practice of giving a boy his father's name, but we compromised: if it's a boy, it gets named after my husband but not circumcised.

If it's a girl, my husband already used the name he wanted for his daughter, so it's pretty much up to me. So far my favorites list is:

Elanor
Luthien
Arwen (These three are from J.R.R. Tolkien's work, though Arwen also appears elsewhere, I think it's Welsh)
Freydis
Thordis (Both Heathen names from Icelandic sagas)

I had a few others, but I found they're on the 2002 top 200 list, so I'm avoiding them. These include female variations on Alex, Morgan, and Jasmine.

The middle name will be a family name, I just haven't decided which one will go best with whichever of the above names I pick:

Rae
Denise
Cordelia
Mya

Those are, respectively, one of my sisters' nickname, the name of another sister, the middle name of the third sister, and the first name of my best friend with the letters rearranged.

For religious reasons, I'm deliberately avoiding Christian names (one reason I'm so annoyed at my husband's insistence upon a junior), so hebrew names, biblical names, and Latin names with Christian meanings are pretty much out, as are a number of family names I would otherwise use.

Maybe instead of it being JR. he could go with II.
Jr. always seems a bit, oh I don't know, not really their own name, while II seems to be part of a dynasty, carrying on etc...

oh well. At least you came up with a compromise that you can both live with.

We were thinking of Cordelia when we were pg with #1....it's a Trag Hip song....

I have this thing about songs with girls names...I don't know why, but I always tend to gravitate to names that have a song associated with it...

Evelyn incidently is another Trag Hip song...that I can sing when she's older...."Evelyn, Evelyn, Where were you last night....":LOL

our kids have odd names...
ds 1 is Mercury Alexander
ds 2 is Xavier Kerrclan

I think (think) this one is a girl...

I like Kathlina Maxine, however dh hates it..

He doesn't mind Morgan, but i'm not all that fond of it..

So it's good i'm only 15 weeks because we are at an impass..

I've had a song going around my head for days "Evangeline", can't remember by who, but it's a no-no for us as both our surnames start with E and babe will have both so EEE doesn't work for us - but I love the name

I too had names picked out when I was still in school (hs)
:LOL
and dh actually likes (some of) them
Kahlil Paul is ds name...I heard Kahlil when I was 14 yo and flipped for it! (paul was my grandfather who raised me)

I don't have any more boys names...but girls...

Dh is stuck on trinity if this next babe is a girl...Another one of my school names, first it was ciarra but when that gained so much popularity I changed it to Trinity(which is another mtn range right next to sierra mtns. in California) But we called Kahlil Trinity for the first 6 months he was in my belly so I kinda think that name has already been taken....

My favorite girl name is by far right now Bella....But dh doesn't really like it soooo

If my baby is a boy, his name will likely be Ian Andrew.

I also like: Aiden, Rowan, Quinn, Sean, Alec, Laim, Teagan, Soran.

If my baby is a girl, she is likely to be named Aerin Elizabeth or Aerin Christine (can't decide yet).

I also like: Tara, Aislin (Ashlyn), Merelan, Clare, Kaitlyn.

I miscarried a baby whom I named Isabella Danielle, and my ex-gf has a daughter named Gillian Elizabeth... both names I adore.
