a fever and an allergy?

i am trying to figure out ds's allergy to dairy...
history (he is 16 m.o., tested positive for dairy allergy with a blood test... after a few exposures to hidden dairy around 12 months old (breaded chicken, mom not reading a babyfood jar label) he would vomit 2 hours after, for about 45 minutes)
been avoiding all dairy since 12 months...

MIL gave him some fig newtons yesterday...not knowing he eats Newmans dairy free fig newtons....
nabisco fig newtons have whey

this was 5pm yesterday

7pm low grade fever
12midnight 104 fever
motrin
7am 102 fever

vomitted 10am

dr. at 10:30...no ear infection, no strep, no flu
very lethargic, red cheeks, exhausted

came home slept

woke up, took a bottle, after 4pm he was BRAND NEW!!! he is cool as a cucumber, happy, playing.....

coincidental 24hr bug? or related to having dairy?

thanks for any insight

the first time my ds was exposed to formulla he had hives and fever 2-3 hrs later I think it is part of the immune response saying foreign invader. But he could have had a bug as well. maybe teething?
