She is FINALLY here!

Maya Lynn FINALLY arrived this morning (Jan. 28, 2006) at 7:56 AM. She was considerably larger than her sisters. She weighed 9lb 10oz, was 24 inches long, head was 14 3/4 inches around, and her chest circ. was 15 1/2 inches.

Birth story:
The plan was a home water birth. I was pretty sure something was going on by around 4:30PM on the 27th. My good friend came over at 9:30 to keep me company (she was planning on being at the birth) and we called midwife around 11:30. This was earlier than I would've gone to hospital but knew that dhs fear was an unplanned UC. At 12:30AM I was at a 3 and the ctx were starting to pick up. I took a shower, did some other stuff and eventually made it to the birth tub. It was way too hot so we had to cool it down. I really like water and it helped a lot. By then, my other friend had come over too. They were such awesome support. There main job was to be my girls, but they helped me in sooooo many ways. I can't remember when I was finally feeling pushy but anyways, I had a small lip still. I tried to push through that and instead I managed to make my cervix VERY swollen. I kept checking it myself and kept thinking it was a bulgy bag. So, my mw had me go labor on the toilet a bit and gave me something. But the dumb thing just kept getting bigger. I started to worry about this because it seemed like I was regressing. We had also woken up my older dd (younger one had already got up) as promised in transition. I wish I would have waited a bit on that. Anyhow, eventually, my mw talked me into my dreaded position (on land left side). I hated it but it worked--3 ctx later and no more cervical nonsense. Should have moved to tub then but pushed on all fours there. She got stuck after the head and mw helped get her out. It felt like forever! Amazingly I did'nt tear. She needed a little help to gete her lungs going. This scared dh a bit. She is doing really well now, nurses like a champ. The birth was a bit overwhelming and will take a while to process. Anna got a bit scared (I think more so after the fact) and we had Kayla leave because of her reactions. This was a good move. She is doing well.

Congratulations!!! Wow, what a big, healthy baby with a beautiful name. We have three girls, too....and we love it!!

I had exactly the same cervical lip issue you had. And I, too, ended up pushing in the same position, despite my initial desire to have a water birth.

Happy babymoon. Enjoy that beautiful girl!
