Midwife for VBAC?

Hi all! Just found out that my supportive OB is no longer doing VBACS, sooooo...I'm off to find a new provider. I would really love to have a midwife that will take me as a repeat VBACer. How did you find your midwives?

Where in AZ are you? There is a Phoenix chapter of ICAN (Int'l Cesarean Awareness Network) and the leader might be able to help you...

I was attending LLL meetings, and I asked at one if anyone had the name of a homebirth midwife, could they please talk to me afterwards. I got three names and called them. None had a problem with VBAC, though I did have to sign a special waiver.

I found a few midwives in my area by doing a simple internet search....

Good luck in your quest!

I used Bethany Birth Center...my midwife was Lylaine Gavette...but there are several (i think 6) midwives and 2 OB?GYN's in that officec. They deliver at Baptist or they have their own free standing birth center

So they DO accept VBACS? I've been trying to find that out for awhile now! How was your experience there? And what did they do differently (if anything) considering you were a VBACer? My husband is a little uneasy about the thought of me delivering OUT of a hospital..any encouraging words for him??? Thanks so much!

Some Midwives will very happily do a VBAC or HBAC, some however prefer not to - I think it has to do with their back-up OB's.

Once you find one or two, go interview them and find out!

Old thread, but I wanted to add that I recently had a sucessful VBAC at Bethany, using the center. Just me, DH, and two midwives. Very private, somewhat more painful than I'd imagined (Thomas was facing UP!), but all went well! Glad I did it, would do it again!

Avoid room 4...the headboard is cr*ppy! Take room 3 & WALK to room 4's whirlpool tub! (Big enough for 2!) Had an amazing delivery, home 4hrs later & resting in my bed. No tears, not even a skidmark. The baby nurse made a home visit the next day, and was very sweet. The center is just minutes away from the hospital (it IS a freestanding center) so in an emergency...you're there quickly. This meant a lot to DH.

You can post this in FYT in your state area as well...people are always looking for midwives in there..
