Our daughter, Prudence Lucette Clara, was born on Friday, 27 January, weighing in at 8 lbs 7 oz. She's in the pink of health and just wonderful, of course.
I am so proud of myself -- I gave birth to her naturally. After a horrid, long, frustrating, highly medicalized birth of my son, 2.5 yrs ago, this was a complete change -- a short (9-hour) labor that was calm and peaceful and enjoyable. The high point was listening to the Beatles song "Dear Prudence" (our son is named Julian, so we wanted to carry on the tradition/theme!) on DP's Ipod while he rubbed my foot. It was just one of those moments, you know, when you think you might burst with happiness. Instead, I cried.
And the other high point, of course, was when she made her appearance and was laid on my chest, all warm and snuggly.
We are sleeping OK and adjusting to Life with Two as well as can be expected, and thoroughly enjoying the babymoon. I may or may not write/post an actual "birth story" but wanted to let you all know that she's here! I hope to see some of you on the Yahoo list. Best wishes to all you new mamas and mamas-in-waiting!
