Walt Disney World

We went to Disney back in November and I wanted to post my experiences on the allergy forum

At the time, we (my older son and I) could not eat dairy, gluten, or eggs. We eat fish, but no meat. I was incredibly concerned about going on vacation in a place where I had no idea what to expect.

Well, in a nutshell, I have never eaten better in my life. Ever, ever, ever.
Everyone was so helpful and friendly, it was surreal. All of our food allergies were taken incredibly seriously and they were even happy to oblige--imagine that.

We would make a reservation and I would tell them the above (the reservation is not necessary for the allergy stuff, just for getting a table). When I sat at the table, I would either remind them, or the hostess or server would have that information already in front of them. They would send a chef to the table immediately to either, walk me through the buffet, or walk me through the menu.

I always had tons of stuff to eat, and when we had lunch w/Pooh at the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom, they had GF, DF, soy-free, egg-free brownies for us. All places had either rice dream ice cream or some kind of soy ice cream as well. Many places had rice pasta, which delighted my son to no end. I was able to eat tons of food (and I mean tons, I can put the food away!!), and often the chef would make me something special--unprompted--or when they were making stuff for the buffet they would omit certain things for my portion and then make the rest for the buffet.

At every eatery (more of a fast-food kinda place than a restaurant), they also have a white 3 ring binder which includes the recipes to everything they make, so I was able to pick out food no problem.

I was more than pleasantly surprised. Overjoyed. Incredibly enthusiastic, and amazed at all that they did to provide a reaction-free vacation for us.

As a result, we are going back next fall.

Just wanted to pass that on to others in the same boat.

Frozen Rice Dream at Disney? I love that stuff - I'm dairy intolerant. We are headed to Disney in a few weeks. Can you get it in most places?

Glad to hear they are so accomodating...
