Hi I am the mother of a loving high spirited 12 year old son. He has always been a straight A student, in the gifted class, etc. Until this year(6th grade) . He will not stop talking in class. The teacher has even moved his desk per my request right by HER and he still will not stop talking! Because he wont stop talking in class, he is not listening to homework assigments or doing classwork. Therefore he is bringing home all classwork from the day plus homework and it is taking him 3 hours a day to do all his work. I have tried everything from punishing, taking away everything, banning friends, being nice, offering rewards, letting him fail, every single thing. Before you ask, nothing is going on in his life..he has just discovered that his is the *cool* one in school this year. He is still making a's and b's..but that is with my constant nagging. Plus he wont listen to anything the teacher says about writing down assignments, etc..he just wont do it. I need some help!! This is the first year I have ever had a problem with him!

I think he is bored and the teachers isn't challanging him. You need to get the teacher to challange him.
