What is up with my milk????

When I pump, (I have been doing this for 12 months 2 times a week) one breast lets down at least 3 times as much as the other. DS likes the other one better, one with less pumping milk. So I don't get why it doesn't produce more.

And now they are getting harder to pump. Left side maybe 3 oz, right only about 1 oz. He still nurses at night and drinks it all, about 8 oz total. Should I try and pump more often at work? I usually can get twice in on 12 hours.

ADVICE PLEASE!:

So yr baby is 17 mos? And you work 2 12 hour days a week?

And your baby nurses as much as he wants when you are together? And on your days at work he has 8 oz of EBM in the 12 hours, then nurses what, 2,3,4,5 times when you are home those days?

On your days at work, in 12 hours, he only gets 8 oz of your milk, but is eating too? Table foods, water, cow's or soy milk? Sounds OK if he is taking other foods and nursing several good sessions when you get home and throughout the night.

Some working moms quit pumping altogether, or just to comfort, after one yr. Good for you and your baby, that you are keeping it up.

BTW, has one breast always pumped more easily than the other? This is rather common, and quite often, the baby prefers the breast that lets down more gently. Once in a while, they start refusing the other breast entirely. So, it is not b/c of his preference that there is the difference, but probably just the structure of your ducts.

While awake he nurses about 4-6 times and at night only about twice, if he is well otherwise he is on the boob 24 hours! LOL!!!

I was just wondering. I thought it was weird that they are becoming harder to pump, when he still nurses so much, and that he still nurses at night.

He does eat also, and has other things to drink during the day.

Thank you for the imput.
