i am trying so hard to post in the other forums, but really love talking to the ppl here. has anyone looked at any other method for us to keep in tough (whisper: does anyone know when we will get kicked out of here. ).
i signed up for something a million years ago (it seems) and i get sent email digests of a Dec due date club. i never participated, but it seems to work for them (i should unsubscribe...i don't even read it...just delete it).
anyone else trying to self-wean from the DDDC???

nah, i'm not self-weaning. i'll keep checking in and posting as long as we're allowed to be here. i think we should definitely move somewhere else if we end up being kicked out. it would be too sad to lose the group we have here - both the posters and the lurkers!

No weaning here either. I have branched out to other forums, but this one is still "home".

My suggestions for before we get kicked out of here (anyone know when that will be?) are either we make our own thread in Life With a Babe....although it will just be one big thread, or we make our own Yahoo group. It's really easy to sign up at yahoo if you aren't already signed up, then you could either recieve new posts when the are posted via email, or you can recieve a daily digest of all posts for one day...or my favorite, is to just go straight to the group page and read posts there. We could post pics there too, in an album.

Any other ideas?

i ain't goin nowhere! they'll have to throw me out the virtual door.
we can set up another web board somewhere...my hubby knows how. it's cost $ though. not much, but a little bit

Life is hard enough, why wean? I like it here, even though I'm shy, even in the virtual world.
I'm up for Yahoo or whatever forum we choose, I do want to be able to see pics though, wherever we end up.

yahoo sounds good to me. it's easy amd free!!

though no weaning going on here. i'll be here until we're archived!! (i do branch out elsewhere though.... mostly to diaper-making and sewing .... and mindful home management with all the subcatagories as well .... and of course breastfeeding!)

I can go ahead and set up the Yahoo group, since it looks like it's gotten a lot of "votes".

Is everyone cool with this, or would someone else like to set it up?

I'm all for yahoo. i guess I have kindof been venturing out a little...i found another group that I like pretty well. But they'll never take the place of this one.

yahoo sounds great to me. i use yahoo groups a ton. one question though...are we sticking around here until we have to leave? or moving over there now? i guess i'd prefer to stay here until forced out, then switch. what do you all prefer?

I can't self wean, I just figured out how to nak well!!!

I'd like to stay here for as long as we can too. According to the list of due date clubs, it looks like we have a few more months. I'll go ahead and set up the yahoo group sometime soon though, just so that it's there when we need it. i'll post the info when I have it.

I don't know my way around MDC to know this...but isn't there some way we could get some sort of private forum on this site? Why can't they let us have a special forum inside Life with A Babe for example? Just call it Babes Dec 2005. Anyone have any inside info on this?

Honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of the Yahoo groups, although I am a member of some. I like the format here so much better - it is so much easier to follow threads etc.

But I don't want to lose this group either...It's my lifeline!

Yahoo's format bugs me too. It doesn't really need to be so clunky, but it is.

Options for a similar format include ezBoards (annoying banner ads, but free, can pay periodically to get rid of ads) and setting up our own boards... I don't know the ins and outs of this, but I have geekier friends I can ask. I know that phpBB software is free and it looks like there is free webhosting with PHP (this is database functionality that you need to run phpBB) as well.

AFAIK there isn't any way to get our own private board on MDC... if they offered that it would likely balloon way out of control and I'm sure MDC's bandwidth bill is already enormous.
