help i'm so hungry-foods list

Hi again,
so the foods i can't eat (i've already had him tested) are dairy, tomatoes, chocolate, corn, cabbage and fruit w/ grains. it is recommended that i eat very simple foods and little grains, but i'm starving. for protein i eat meat-sausage a lot because it's easy (yuck! i know) and eggs. i try not to eat too many beans because they're gassy. i eat a lot of soy, too, yogurt, protein powder in smoothies, milk. i can't afford a lot of nuts but i eat them sometimes. otherwise i eat a lot of fruit and more grains than i should-some veggies, too. i don't know if this helps. i am looking into NAET right now.
thanks,
lindsay

Cut back on the soy and cook your beans longer. I soak mine all day and then put them in the crock pot at night on low and cook until the next day dinner time, adding water when needed. They're very very soft, but no gas. Gassy plant foods will make you gassy b/c of the fiber in them, they will not affect your baby unless he's allergic. Eat more veggies. Romaine salad (I cook/wilt mine in the winter--I don't like cold foods in the winter. Plus when it's wilted you can eat a lot more w/out all the chewing. lol) Spinach, broccoli (it's related to cabbage, though, so is cauliflower.)

I make smoothies w/ a banana, orange juice, frozen berries, kale and a scoop of sunflower butter (if you can do peanuts, peanut butter is cheap and a good source of protein.) Add olive oil or canola/sunflower oil to things to boost your fat intake and also help fill you up. I eat meat, too and I keep trying to cut back, but I think I like it too much. Plus, I feel like I'm SOOO hungry if I don't eat it at least once a day. SO I'm just going to have to buy more free range stuff.

Your DS has tested allergic to dairy and you eat yogurt and milk?

Or did you just mean soy yogurt and soy milk?

Many people who are allergic to dairy are also allergic to soy (as high as 80%) and DD is no exception, so I avoid soy (and all it's hidden forms) as well.

Heh...not the info you were looking for at all. I find nuts to be incredibly helpful at keeping hunger at bay. Esp. almonds as they balance blood sugar.

thank you!

yeah, i meant soy. he seems to be okay with soy. i actually put him on soy formula for 2 days when the colic got unbearable to try to clear his system and mine and he slept like normal babies do for the first time in his life. but i will try to minimize. also, i do the smoothies, too-they rock! i appreciate the advice.
thank you,

I usually have bananas mashed onto toast in the mornings. Someone else suggested avocado mashed on toast as a spread, and that sounds yummy, too.

I told my dh that avocado is the one food thing that makes life worth living at the moment!

I'm eating a lot of homemade soups - I made a ham, lentil and vegetable soup the other day that is great (if you aren't vegetarian). And very filling. Could easily just do lentil and vegetable with some wild rice or something.

I'm also eating tons of salads...with avocado, of course.

I was thinking about trying to make vegetable 'chips' (like potato chips, only made with vegetables/sweet potoates). I have real maple syrup in the fridge that needs to be used up and I thought that might work. That would be a fun 'treat' that was still relatively healthy (and I'm becoming more and more cautious about eating anything processed - they just have so many 'yucks' in them, and it's so hard to pin down what dd3 is reacting to anyway - even worse if I have a whole list of ingredients from a processed food that I've eaten to try to take into account, you know?

I bought the 'Food Allergy Survival' guide on ShelleyK's recommendation, and have just finished reading it. It looks like it has some really yummy recipes in it...I just have to find somewhere to buy all of these odd ingredients!
