VB AIOs with prefolds

Hi! I was just searching the archives and last fall there was a thread on making VB AIOs with prefolds instead of birdseye. I was wondering how those are holding up! Are they absorbant enough? Any problems with wicking at the legs?

My baby is outgrowing her infant IPFs and I was thinking of using them to make some medium VB AIOs. A single one isn't wide enough and probably isn't long enough (or absorbant enough?) either, but the fabric from two infant IPFs ought to do it right?

OR could I use the prefolds for a hidden soaker and suedecloth for the inner? I'd really love to use these infant IPFs one way or another!

TIA

I haven't made VB AIO's with my prefolds, but I have made AIO's with them. The only AIO's I have that don't wick are these, as I used good fleece for the outers.

I trace my pattern onto the open prefold, and the wings of the pattern generally hang off. No problem. I cut out the shape from the prefold, then lay the pattern back onto it. I take the scraps from the leg cuts and position them under the bit of pattern at the wing that hangs off the prefold. I trace, cut, and zig-zag these bits onto the wings before doing anything else. Then I make the diaper like normal, with elastic going between the prefold layers.

When the boy wears these, I usually include a booster pad in there. I can get close to two hours out of this.
