so, i lanolized them. are they supposed to be sticky?

I have done a lot of research (and practicing) about lanolizing, and it seems like just about anything goes, as long as you somehow get the lanolin in the wool and spread out evenly.

Here, read this part of my obsessive diaper website where I show all I know:
http://www.boiseclothdiapers.com/Laundry_Tips.htm#wool

Don't worry about getting the lansinoh all over your hands, it's a good moisturizer!

can i use dr bronners as the gentle soap? I don't know what is gentle
post #5 of 11
I have never used Dr. Bronners, but it looks like it is probably good. The point is to use something without a lot of additives (perfumes, dyes), and that won't be harsh (like Tide). When in doubt, use shampoo. If it works on your hair, it should work on sheep hair, right? And don't use very much soap, just a little bit should be fine.
Hope that helps.

I started using baby soap or shampoo as the gentle soap and I love it. Esp if you get a chamomile and lavender one. Gives the soaker a very delicate smell. I've actually stopped using Woolite and such on my other handwashables and just use the shampoo. I have no idea if it's cheaper, but we've got tons of it here!

How sticky are they? Maybe you got too much lanolin on them. Min are usually a little sticky, especially when they are still wet. If they are too sticky to wear, even after they are dry, maybe you should wash them again.

Mine are never sticky. Sometimes there is white residue on them after lanolizing thats why i lanolize them wrong size out. Here is a link to a video that shows you how to lanolize properly, this is exactly how i do it. I use solid lanolin though but it should be the same. Lanolizing Video

Oh yeah, FYI I don't use the wool wash, its too expensive for my budget. A dear friend gave me the solid lanolin. I use baby shampoo just a tad, enough to make a few suds.
