Can I use nylon in place of PUL?

I know that I've heard of nylon covers, but I'm not sure if this is the same as the ripstop nylon I can buy at the local fabric store... anyone know?

I think the bumkins aio outers are made of nylon, i love that material it never wicks and is so silky

there is a difference in nylons. I'm pretty sure that nylon pull on covers/bumkins/bumgenious (no official word on this, but feels EXACTLY like my nylon pull-on cover so I'm pretty convinced that's what it is) are a laminated nylon. I know we have some ripstop nylon camp gear and while water will bead up if dropped on it (like rain), if it sits on it, it'll get wet through and through. So I doubt the stuff at the fabric store is waterproof unless you send it in to be laminatged. You could always get a small sample and try it though.

I've considered getting XL nylon covers and cutting them to use them fabric in an AIO. But at $5each, it's way too expensive. I only find vinyl at the thrift store so that's no help either

I just got some nylon at walmart in the 2$ bin... I took it home poured some water on it tried to squeeze it through and it didn't go through, I made my first diaper with it & I'm about to make a second... But maybe I shouldn't ?

I couldn't really test the first one it was too small for my guy (looked like a fuzzy speedoo on him ) But he did pee in it...and it didn't soak through but it also wasn't extremely wet... I think I'll finish sewing the bigger one and let you know how it turns out

I've been using cloth with a wool soaker and really finding that effective & comfortable...& they both dry fast... But I do still really wanna make some AIO's
