Pocket question... Will this work?

I'm planning on working on my first pocket diaper soon and I have a plan but I'm not entirely sure it will work, so I need more experienced opinions!

I'm trying to use up a ton of left over fabric bits, so I thought I would try to do a flannel outer layer, a hidden PUL layer, and a microfleece liner. I was thinking I'd just serge the flannel to the outside of the PUL and then put the diaper together normally... but then when I make the leg casing, the flannel outer is going to be on the outside with the PUL on the inside, just like the rest of the diaper. Is this going to give me a major league wicking problem?

I'm not sure it's the end of the universe if it does, since a) I'm not in love with pockets yet, and b) it's meant to be a night time diaper, and DS just sleeps in his diaper, so there aren't clothes to worry about.

That sounds like it would wick...I would just use the PUL and microfleece for the pocket. You could use the flannel to make inserts instead.

Yup, that's going to wick. Ask me how I know.

You don't have to worry about his clothes, but you do have to worry about the sheets.

Since you have a serger and are thinking of serging part of the diaper anyway, why not just serge the whole thing? It may still wick, but not nearly as quickly as the way you're wanting to do it.

For a nighttime diaper, I'd really suggest solid PUL though. Solid PUL, wool, and fleece are the only things I trust for that amount of pee!
