Wicking AIO

I made a AIO yesterday with PUL outer a 7 layers of OV then added a doubler to it (4 more layers of OV) It leaked all over my DD clothes.
What did I do wrong
PUL outer
OV polyster thread
Dried it to seal the holes
I dont get it.

Maybe I will stick to pockets:*( I wanted to give AIO a chance!

Was the soaker soaked? Or did the pee wick out before being soaked in? If it's the former, you need more absorbancy. If it's the latter, maybe washing it a few more times might help. Did you pre-wash your OV a few times to get the natural oils out? Natural fabrics especially often still have oils in them that need to be washed out, and it can take 2-3 hot washes or more. If the oils are still present, it won't absorb very well.

When I first buy hemp, the water actually beads up and rolls right off! But after a few hot washes, it absorbs wonderfully.

That sounds like a lot of layers. When your dd is wearing the diaper, are there any gaps in the leg openings? Too many layers or stuffing can do this to a diaper.

The diaper is a tad big on her It's bigger than my usual pattern. and longer. Could that cause wicking.
The soaker pad was soaked the doubler was almost soaked( I think my DD is becoming a super soaker)
I washed the OV 1 time only.

What style of an AIO was it? Your own pattern or one that you purchased?

And I'm wondering about seven layers of organic velour -- that thing has to be One Thick Diaper! My machine certainly couldn't handle that... but I digress. ... is there any velour showing when you put the diaper on your dd? Any part that you can see has the potential to touch your dds clothes, therefore wicking moisture to the outside.

Then of course there's the 'how long did you leave it on' question, though I'm assuming it was a short amount of time... maybe not? maybe that's the problem? (as in, are you certain that you changed after one pee? maybe it's more of a 'short-term' type diaper instead of a multiple wettings one?)

And, you say you used organic velour polyester thread. So.... I thought I'd make sure that it really was all poly thread! THat could cause issues as well, of course.

Then, as a pp said, if the dipe is big you're bound to have problems... so maybe that's the only issue ...

gosh... sorry I seem to ramble

It was left on 2 hours maybe
This is my pattern
It has encaused elastic which I NEVER do.
It had polyster thread(not OV typo )

I will post pics of it later
It has one layer in the body with the PUL then a trifold sew in the front to make it quick dry. I also added another doubler which now I'm tinking that was over kill.
I'm going to try again with organic cotton today. I'm going to not do encase elastic this time, and see if that helps any.
My DD is getting hydrated after being stick with a virus and dehydrated,, so as of now she is a heavy wetter.

Ifit is big around the waist would adding a cross over tab help the fit?
It's my last cut of citron yellow PUL I love this color!!!

One more question Does OV and OC have to be washed a bunch of times like hemp or is one washing good enough?
