What to use to dye prefolds? Method? Anyone know more of this?

I have a small bunch of boring white prefolds, but since I really like using them I would like to make them more interesting. I was thinking of doing some tie-dye or plain dyeing. But what dye to use? I can ofcourse buy cheap synthetic dye but I would prefer something natural. I was thinking maybe redwine? Or some blended frozen strawberries - or other natural dyes.
Does anyone have any experiene in dyeing prefolds? Suggestions for natural and easy obtainable dye? I prefer bright colors but guess that could be difficult with natural dyes?
All advice very welcome.
TIA

Naturally dying cotton is HARD. It can be worth it, I'm just warning you that it's much more work than synthetics. Here is a great website to start with http://www.pburch.net/dyeing/naturaldyes.shtml. I'm sure you can stain them with things like wine, but it will wash out eventually. Now if you have a wool soaker or something wool that you want to dye naturally, that is easier and you will have more color choices. Good luck with dying stuff .

Thanks for that link. I read the article and it sounds like I would be better off using synthetic dye? Will that be harmful to my baby?

well, children's clothes are dyed synthetically so...

My personal opinion is that I'm using cloth and that's so much better than all the chemicals in disposables. I washed the diapers I dyed quite a bit before I put them on the baby. She hasn't ever had dye on her so I take that to mean that the dye all bonded to the cotton in her diapers rather than to her. Everyone has their own ideas on this one though and I respect the decisions of others who don't want to use dye too.

I have used both Dylon Cold dye and Rainbow Rock dyes. They both work. The Dylon works really well when used to immersion dye. The rainbow rock works really well if you're tye dying. (you can get really nice dyes from Dharma Trading Co but I live in Canada and didn't want to import them. Since you're in Denmark you might want to find a local source for fibre reactive dyes. You'll find something locally I'm sure.)
