NT and Maker's Diet similarities

What are the similarities between NT and Maker's Diet? I've read NT, and I gave a copy to my mother. But she's a devout Christian, who has always tried for a Whole Foods diet her entire adult life. She likes NT, but it's a little far out for her and I'm hoping to loop her in with Maker's Diet, if they're close in philosophy. Should I buy it for her?

As I unerstand it, Makers Diet does not emphasize animal foods like NT does. It does emphasize whole, unprocessed foods.

They are VERY similar and Rubin actually sites Fallon and uses many of her recipes in Makers Diet. MD, however, rejects the use of pork and shellfish. Other animals are AOK, though. MD also emphasizes the use of supplements (Garden of Life supplements) to help get your health back on track. I think it would be a good way to "loop her in." I read MD before NT and it was a good intro before getting the much thicker NT book!

They are quite similar. In fact, I know several people who came to NT via Maker's Diet, as it heavily referenced NT. As some PPs said, it excludes pork and shellfish. I don't remember as much emphasis on lacto-fermenting, but maybe someone here can correct me on that?

There is some talk about lactofementing. As pp states Rubin cites Fallon and Enig numerous times. It's a pretty great book, and I'm not religious. I love the way he talks about things. It does exclude pork and shellfish, but I feel like NT kinda does that as well. Maybe it's just my perception though...I just know in the beginning Fallon does a separate note about them both. Interestingly enough, I have a nutritionist who is big into NT and she says that shrimp (wild caught) is fine because most of the contamination comes off with the shell. She recommended it highly to me and I'm pg and nursing. I dunno-she said absolutely no crab, oysters and clams though. I really love oysters Anyway go for the MD. It's a great read-as are all his books.
