Cover & fitted question

Are there any free diaper cover patterns? I'vemade my own fitted and AIO patterns but I'm stumped on covers. Any insight.
I can use FOE if need be. I am thinking about covers for newborn when I concieve.
So I can use fitteds
Also is there a good pattern for making gussets in fitteds?

you can make covers using your fitted or AIO pattern--just make it a little bit bigger all around. You can do a single layer with FOE or two layers and T&T or serge. Add snaps or aplix and you're done! I'm also working on a pattern for pull-on covers because I really like them over fitteds (I will just use FOE at the waist and around the legs).

So if my newborn pattern is 10 inches rise would I make the newborn covr with a 12 inch rise and wider in the crotch?

Yep, just trace your fitted pattern, then add 1/2" all the way around. There are instructions out there for adding gussetts, but I've never done it, and can't remember where the instructions are. Hopefully someone else will have that link handy.

If you plan on using your covers for prefolds also, make sure the back is wide enough. I made that mistake with some of my early covers - the back was too narrow for prefolds to be easily used (I still use them with those covers, but have to tuck in ALOT), but they fit great over my fitteds made from the same pattern.

I've done FOE bound PUL covers, a couple serged fleece/suedecloth covers, and a one-layer fleece cover with a seam allowance added on to fold over and encase the elastic. That one wasn't fun because the tabs were more difficult. I haven't done a T&T cover, but the fleece/suedecloth could have been done that way.

I'd like to do only fitteds, covers, aios and pockets no prefolds.
I don't use prefolds with my DD
We'll see

ETA I will probably do a few t&T(not sure if I'll topstitch though) and FOE

Here is a link on how to add gussets to a pattern you already have http://www.sleepingbaby.net/jan/inde...aby/index.html . (I her site) I also suggest newconceptions (www.newconceptions.com) diaper covers delux patter. It is the only diaper pattern I've bought that I felt was totally worth the money. It has a pattern for a front aplix with gussetts, side snapping and pull up cover.

Here's the only place I've seen instructions for gussets: Nappy Network
I haven't used it so I don't know how great it is. I'm in the process of making my first cover and I used these instructions How to Sew a Fleece Diaper Cover and this pattern with some minor changes. I'm not finished so I don't know how it'll turn out. I used the biggest of the two sizes on the diaper pattern for my dc's dipes so I added an inch all the way around for the cover.
