Hello! Didn't know you were all still here!

Hello everyone,

I didn't know that this group was still going, because I checked back after I had my baby and no one was around! I was bummed, to say the least, because in those first few weeks I really needed to chat! Maybe it was just bad timing! How is everyone doing? I am so glad that I decided to check in again. This was my first baby, and wow, what an experience! I was in labor for 30 hours, and let me tell you, I am not one of those women who will tell other women, "Oh, yes, after it is all over, you forget about the pain because you are so in love". Ha ha!

Here are a few things that are on my mind.

My daughter hasn't pooped in days. I know that this is supposed to be normal, but it sure is freaky. Is anyone else's baby doing this? Today she was having smelly gas.

How long does your baby nurse for?

Here is a link to some photos from the day my daughter, Ranjana Praveena Nag was born:

I am going to have to go back and look at the photos of all of your babies!

I am so glad that you are here.

Glad you came back! We're still going strong. It is SO great having other mamas in the same boat.

Love the pictures! Especially the one of her in front of the fireplace, and the one of her and daddy sleeping.

Samara hasn't done the not pooping in days thing yet...my my son did when he was about 2 mos old. 8 days with no poop and when he finally did. WOW, what a load that was! I was speechless. I didn't know how in the world I would clean him up. It went all the way up his back, to his NECK. Seriously. I didn't even know how I'd carry him to the bathtub. So Dh took him under the armpits, and I took his legs....LOL!!! and we carried him to the tub for a good scrub down.

Samara nurses for about 5 min on one side only....every couple hours. she's a speed nurser. but then there are times when she'll be slower about it..like she just wants to take her time and relax

I know what you mean about needing this site. I don't post much, but I read it about every day. It was a blessing in the beginning when I didn't know what I was doing - it was great to read that others were feeling the same way, and their babies were doing the same things.

Aveena nurses every 3 hrs or so at night and she's all over the place during the day. today she's feeding LOTS - like every hour or so. The good thing is she usually only takes about 5-10mins to feed and usually only wants one side (not today though!!)

You all are making me jealous!! :

Stuart is still taking forever to nurse. A speedy session for him takes 20 minutes. His average is about 35-40, but he'd go for hours if I let him. He is not one of those "pops blissfully off the breast in a milk-drunk state" babies. In fact, he's never popped off on his own. He falls asleep and then I have to pop him off! I swear he'd live there if he could.

Still, it's an improvement from earlier. Around 3 weeks he decided to take 60 minutes to nurse. Anything else is an improvement, I guess.

We haven't had the not pooping thing yet. He gives about one or two good ones a day, which is also an improvement. He had one in every diaper for the first 6 weeks.

Glad you found your way back to this group!

Welcome back, Wendy! Loved looking at your pictures, and I agree - those two - the Christmas fireplace, and sleeping with Daddy, are just darling! I also love that 5 cm picture, the look on your face took me right back to my 5 cm moment!

Poop - Will has gone 24 hours, but my older two did sometimes hold it for days. What a mess when they finally let loose!

Nursing - Will started out taking over an hour, but he's down to about 15 minutes on average. Sometimes he can get the job done in about 10, and sometimes I'll pop him off after 30.

earlier this week reed didn't poop for 4 days. on his 5th day i heard a little butt rumblr and ran him into the bathroom and held hi over the sink (we EC). i cannot believe how HUGE his poop was!!! i mean gigantic! i am so glad we EC because that would have been a disaster and such hard cleanup. so just be prepared for a blowout in the near future...

and you're right...his gas smelled TERRIBLE!!!

Hi, Wendy!

Drew is on his seventh day with no poo. It's pretty common for him, but I hate it so much. He seems to be really uncomfortable sometimes. I try rectal stimulation (warm cotton ball, tip of the thermometer) when he's grunting a lot... sometimes it helps, sometimes not. When he finally goes it will be ENORMOUS. And his gas is incredibly smelly.

He nurses for roughly 15 minutes on one side every 2-3 hours. He also takes 3-4 ounces of pumped/bottled BM every 2-3 hours from my MIL on days when I work.
