Strawhatbrat - embroidery machines!

I've been admiring your designs for so long! I'm drooling for an embroidery machine so badly!

I was just wondering what kind of machine you have and how you like it. And how do you protect the inside of the design on the PUL?

And anyone else as well that has an embroidery machine. What kind of machine do you have? How well does it work for diapers? Besides diapers, what have you used them for?

I'm sure I can't get one for a long time, but oh, I'm dreaming about it! We'll be in our own house sometime this next summer, and I'll have a sewing room! I'm daydreaming about all the things I want in it. Such a dangerous dream

I'll hop in

I have a Viking Rose. It's a combo sewing/ embroidery machine. I actually wasn't planning on buying it, but my local sewing machine shop had an amazing deal on it because it was a trade in. I love love love it for sewing...it is the best machine I have ever used. Embroidery is good too, not as high quality as a "real" embroidery machine, but I'm comparing it to my friend's $25,000 professional machine! For a home machine, it's terrific. Since it's only a one needle machine, you can really only do so many colors until it starts to be too thick in the back, and his machine (of course) can do all this intricate stuff.

I haven't tried it on dipes yet...I haven't figured out how! I'm thinking if I use a layer of the plastic stabilizer on the back of PUL that I can embroider PUL, but I have to research that one first!

Edited to add...I've used it for a bit of everything. Halloween costumes for DD, home dec projects, quilting, and mending. I just made my first dipe on it, and it did a great job with the super thick layers of my soaker pad (I used an old piece of a thick towel folded in thirds).

I have the brother In-novis 1000 and LOVE it! It's awesome. It is a combo machine as well. I've never seen a professional machine in action, so can't compare but the quality of the sew outs is very good. It has a ton of decorative and utility stitches for sewing. I absolutely would recommend it.
For protecting the inside of the design you can iron on a layer of PUL on the underside of the design. And for the stabilizer, I use a light tear away on the back and solvy rinse away on the front.

Thank you strawhatbrat! That's what I'll do--iron on a piece of PUL on the back. I can't wait to play...I've rarely used the embroidery function on my machine, I really only bought it for sewing

I need to finalize my order at OSDS now...cause I don't have any PUL yet!

Be careful ironing it... the PUL can warp if you keep it in one place too long.

As far as machines go it was fairly inexpensive.

This is the most inexpensive:

I didn't get this one because I wanted a bigger embroidery area. This is a 4x4 hoop, mine is 5x7.

I WANT this one. I DROOL for this one. But I can guarantee it isn't happening any time soon!

I probably shouldn't have asked this question. Now I want one even more!

I know there's someone out there that will embroider pockets for you. Anyone know who it is? Strawhatbrat, have you ever considered it?
