sewing Lastin

If I do end up buying some woven from Wazoodle (ie: if I can't find anything at Fabricland today) I may buy some Lastin too just to try it. Is 1/4" for both elastics a good width? The covers I already have use 1/4" but they're only one or two layers of fabric. Although, I guess a pocket diaper is really only a couple layers too.... How would I sew the lastin though? A zigzag "casing"? A long zigzag right down the center? A zigzag over one edge (outside edge??)?

Thanks girls!!

my patterns recommend sewing lastin on with a 3-step zig zag.

I'd buy 3/8". I tried sewing my 1/4" Lastin onto a 2-layer fleece cover. With the 3-step zig-zag it would barely gather the fabric at all (and I think I had it stretched correctly, not all the way like you would with other elastic). Then I tried tacking down both ends and it basically preforated and shredded at those points as soon as I did a test stretch. I usually use the 3/8" fabricland clear stuff but I'm not sure if 1/4" would have the same issues as the Lastin did for me.
