How long are they supposed to last? Mine is not painful at all anymore, but I definatly know thats what it is. Do they go away on their own?

Sorry for tmi, but its my first one. Not quite the momentous moment I thought it would be.

well, i have one very large one from my first pregnancy that has never gone away. my doctor said it needs to be removed. fun............ i decided to wait until i was done having kids, no need to have it reoccur. i think i will have it fixed this year.

Ya know Ana, we do a lot of stuff alike, but I'm gonna have to bow out of joining you on this one I know nothing about them and would like to keep blissfully ignorant of the subject. hope it goes away soon, I can't imagine it's a ball of fun (pun only slightly intended)

Namaste, Tara

I didn't get them, and I can't figure out why. But I can tell you that my mom got them from having me almost 30 years ago (sorry Mom). But like Alice said, you can get it removed. But maybe they do just go away for some people.. I just don't know.

Mine took a couple of months last time...maybe more...I don't remember exactly...but I had them REALLY bad last time. This time it's just one, but it's still hanging on at 3wks...though much reduced in size. Just keep up with the sitz baths and it should shrink/disappear over time. I have a hereditary component, so mine never really disappear, but so far they've been easily managed. Lots of women just have them pregnancy related and once they "disappear" they don't recur...so, hopefully they will be gone for you in a few more weeks, but keep up with the warm sitz baths if you can...they really are helpful.

please take your time considering the sugery. i have known many women that were told it is a simple operation and it was SO NOT!!!! one friend has never been the same, pain every time she goes, or tries to go, she has trouble now, real pain, sharp, piercing pain. it should be a simple procedure, if they do it well, but if they do not it is a terrible place for a mistake, a bad slip and cut, scar tissue....go with the sitz bath, and there are these, well, pulgs, that go in the freezer that you can buy for the burning. ther is also a chinese herb called fargulin for piles, it is available from most acupuncturists and some chinese grocery stores, it really works, sucks em right back in. imediately after birth and for the first year a formula called bu zhong ye chi wan is like a lifting and tucking kind of herbs, helps bring everything back up, stomach, breasts, prolaspses of rectum....know a good acupuncturist? there is alot you can do.....blessings.
