Can you have EWCM and not ovulate?

I hope that is not to stupid of a question.:
We have been ttc for 2 cycles, the first attempt we were succesful but sadly we misscarried very early.
I do not chart yet because I always thought I new when I was O.
This month I am having a very long AF and heavy and I am not to sure what my body is telling me.
I wanted my first 2 children to be spaced 3 years apart and it does not seem like that is going to happen. I am kicking myself because I could of been trying so much earlier and my dd could of had a db or ds by now! After I concieve this time I am not going to try to plan anything. I want to have as many children as I possibly can and I feel my time is running out.
Thanks for letting me rant.

Yes, you can have ew and not ovulate. Anov cycles are typified by patches of fertile cm and temp peaks and valleys with no definite thermal shift. My last anov cycle, I had over 10 days of ew!

What does anov mean?

Anovulation. That is when you don't ovulate, and an egg isn't released.

I think the easiest way to tell is to take your temps. I would suggest this for your next cycle. You will know when you get a spike in your temperature. If you don't, or the temps are all over the place, then you probably aren't ovulating.

Hope this helps!

I second what bec says, it would really help you out if you chart your temps. That will give you a much clearer idea of what your body is doing. You can absolutely have ECWM without ovulating, but if you have a clear temperature rise you can be pretty sure you have ovulated.
Good luck, we are in the same timeframe ourselves. Frustrating, isn't it?

I am having dreams about O and making sure my husband is not to tired .LOL. I am starting to get obssessed again.
It is very frustrating. I will start taking my temp in the morning.

ovulation

Believe it or not, I have never had any luck with the temperature method. My chiropractor suggested I get a saliva microscope. It's called the Ovutech ovulation predictor. I purchased it from drleemd.com . I kind of laughed at it because I have always followed the billings method of cervical mucous charting and it has never let me down. The first month I tried the saliva microscope I saw the ferning pattern, ironically that same day I had long clear stretchy cervical mucous. Me and hubby did our thing and whala baby is due in June. I have also tried those ovulation pee sticks and those never worked either. I am typically anovulatory when I am breastfeeding so it is very difficult for me to conceive while nursing as I never have periods. Good Luck.

Dancinggirl,
i just wanted to add -- try not to beat yourself up over not trying sooner than this. Sometimes that doesn't work very well either. A friend of mine wanted babies spaces 3 years apart, too. When she ttc her first baby, it took two years. So, naturally, when her child was 6 months old she stopped taking birth control pills to prep for ttc. But, this time was very different. She concieved the very next cycle. She has kids 15 months apart and that was not her plan at all (she's very into planning, so it really makes her crazy).
Anyway, I try to remind myself that children don't always come when called. But, they'll wander home eventually.
Best wishes!

It so stressfull

I know that this baby will eventually find me it's the waiting that is so darn difficult. I don't think this month is going to be the month, and my dh is telling me not to stress he says it not going to happen if I stress.
I am just waiting to O and I am so antsy.

It is kind of ironic when we decided to ttc with dd ,I had read that it takes up to 6months to concieve. Me and dh were planning on getting pregnant in September. So we started the fun in March and low and behold we got preggo the very first time.
It was actually a joke for a while because my dh gets a kick out of my logic and reasoning.
