In you opinion what is the best stay dry liner?

I was thinking I would use micro fleece since it is so readily available at the fabric store. What do you think is the best stay dry liner? If you had to pick just one fabric what would it be? Micro fleece? Suedcloth? Velour? Something else?

cotton velour. I try to say away from fleece and suede cloth liners since they get repelling issues!

Velour doesn't have "stay dry" properties. I like it anyway b/c it's soft and not synthetic. But if I had to choose a favorite stay dry liner, I'd probably still pick microfleece.

Microfleece (even the good stuff) can pill up over time, Suedecloth absolutely does not pill but I don't think it keeps the baby *as* dry. Pretty dry, but not as dry.

I've never had repelling issues (absorbent fabrics can get them too if they get a detergent build up) but then I've been accused of being visited by the laundry fairy too.

Velour is NOT a stay-dry liner!!!! Microfleece and suedecloth are stay-dry - they don't absorb because they are 100% polyester. They wick moisture to the other side. Velour is at least 80% cotton (if it's worth using), and it absorbs and stays wet.

That said, I love velour as the inner layer of a diaper. I hate microfleece and suedecloth due to the stink/buildup/repelling/etc. issues they tend to have (although I actually haven't had repelling yet - just stink... My FBs microfleece sometimes smell like poop!).

I think I've heard of something called "Power Dry" that's also a stay-dry liner. But I've not seen/touched it IRL. I just use velour and don't worry about wetness. My DS doesn't have a problem with having wetness against his skin, even overnight. I just line everything with velour so it's ultra comfy - more comfy than the stay-dry stuff out there, IMO.

I like using suedecloth in my pocket diapers, it's super thin, cheap (when you find it on sale) and easy to sew...I've never had repelling issues with it and my diapers have been in rotation for way over a year now. I *hate* sewing with microfleece, so I don't use it very often, unless I'm just serging a single or double layer of it for lay-in liner. I also really like Power-dry for pocket diapers...they usually have it at Wazoodle. My friend got a bunch of it and it is so silky soft and thin, she said it's a bit of PITA to sew with since it's so stretchy, but it looks and feels so nice once it's in.

I don't think Power Dry does a very good job at keeping baby's bottom dry - at least that's what I've heard. It's really stretchy though and I think it's what those Stacinator So Simple covers use around the legs and waist.

I have had good luck with Malden Mills microfleece, ordered from their website, though its pricier than local sale stuff. I find with the stretch factor I have to sew it using a walking foot. I personally am a huge fan of fleece!

I think good quality microfleece keeps baby feeling the driest. But suedecloth is cheaper and easier to sew with.

I like both microfleece and suedecloth. I have both MM and Joanns microfleece. The MM is maybe a little softer, but they're both soft and nice. I guess I like them both equally.
