baby's first outfit

Hi mamas~
It just occurred to me that I don't have anything special to put our little girl in after she is born. I think it would probably be a good idea, so we can take photos and such. What did you all put your babies in after they were born. We are having a hb, so we don't need a whole "going home" outfit, but just something soft and special, and preferably something that fits a newborn.

With DD our first outfit was a little one piece but then coming home from the birth center we used the outfit my mom brought my brother and me home in. This time DD had picked an outfit for the baby and wanted it to be the first, so we put him in that when he got dressed. Then we took birth announcement photos in a "boy" outfit when he was 2-3 days old.

I bought a red sleeper/footed outfit from the Osh Kosh outlet. We didn't know the gender so we needed a neutral color. I've found that the 0-3 size from OshKosh can run pretty small. That outfit is now too snug for my baby to wear and she's only 16 days old and weighed 8lb5oz today.

Oh gosh I haven't even decided! I have several things set aside upstairs in my bedroom, so we'll just see whatever seems best. The one that I really hope won't be too big is a dress I made out of organic cotton knit (top) and OC velour (skirt) that I dyed lavender. I'm afraid it will be huge though because the baby patterns always run so big. I also have an under the nile footed sleeper that I dyed in blue/purple marble that could work, or if it's really warm upstairs (it's been in the high 80's here, ugh! So much for the fire in the fireplace...) I'll just put her in a little lavender tshirt and a wool soaker that I made out of yarn I dyed.

OK, so I have thought about this way too much! LOL! I do have a "born at home" onesie but it looks really, really big, like unless she is 9+lbs it would just swim on her. Since DS was only 6.5lbs it's pretty unlikely she will weigh that much!!

I didn't really think about this much, I just threw a few newborn sleepers, a toque that I knit, and a snowsuit to bring him home in. It will be too cold to see what he's wearing on the way home anyway.
I'll likely put him in something cuter and take pics once we're settled in.

I just put Courtney in a really cute pink sleeper. I wish I would have known just how small newborns are... I would have bought a premie size for her first day.
