Baby hasn't dropped yet

I was at the doctor today, and although I was so sure the baby had dropped, she said his head is still above my pubic bone. With just over a week until my due date, I'm hoping he will drop soon!

How far in advance / close to birth did your baby drop? I suppose it could even happen during labour, but I would really like to see some progress here!

i was told the same thing : i want this baby to come!! my mw said my cervix was "soft" yesterday, but that was it. no show, no blood, no amniotic fluid, nada nothing! due on the 18th.....

i am soooooo impatient!!!!

Everytime I turned around I thought "the baby dropped". Then she would drop even further... It just depends on how high you are carrying her to how well you will notice. I was carrying so high that it just seemed like she had "dropped".

I think she officially dropped about 2 weeks in advance.

I don't think dd dropped until I was pushing her out, so I haven't been even looking for signs of dropping with this baby. It was super frustrating to be almost two wks 'overdue' and have people telling me I wasn't going to have her any time soon because I hadn't 'dropped' yet. I think it is one of those things that can mean something if present, but doesn't mean much if it hasn't happened yet. Like most of the body's pre-labor stuff. Don't worry, that baby will drop eventually, even if it is on his way out.

DD was pretty high up even after 9 hours of labor and 2 hours into pushing. My midwife had me walk my stairs in the thick of labor, which helped incredibly, but walking stairs and brisk walking in general (now before you go into labor) can help get the baby into a good position for birth & maybe help baby move down some...gravity

With this baby I had a week of nearly daily (2-8 hours a day) contractions about a week and a half before I actually went into labor that moved her from
"not fixed" to "fixed" in my pelvis. But with DS (my first baby) I had no contractions or BH that I felt prior to going into labor.

My DD never really dropped till I was pushing, either. This baby seemed to drop more and more till I couldn't believe he didn't just fall out, LOL! DD was born at 39 weeks 1 day, this baby at 39 weeks 6 days. So it just goes to show that dropping doesn't really have much bearing on when baby will decide to come!

Thanks ladies! Boy am I feeling a lot of cervical pressure, and "twinges" down there today. Now I'm sure he's dropped more! (I've been saying this for weeks though, lol).

I've been trying to walk outside each day, but can now only go for 20-30 minutes before it feels like the baby is going to fall out. Plus walking gets contractions going, so it gets harder and harder to walk with a rock hard stomach! I figure as I walk he's settling in there, but as soon as he hears we're going to the doctor, he pushes back up and floats around.

My first is the only one that dropped pre-labor, both of my other two, and this baby it seems, waited until I was in full labor before decending. Sprout has been going up and down in there - if I'm walking it feels like he's just going to fall right out, then I sit or lay down and he's up in my ribs again. I think the baby dropping is more of a theatrical event for other people to look for - so they can "expertly" tell you when your baby will arrive
