Help me . . . babywearing challenged!!

OK, wise women I need some help. I have just had my second baby and I desperately need to figure out how to wear her! My first is 2.5 years old and my second is 1 week old. I have a padded ring sling, an unpadded ring sling and a loooong piece of fleece that I can tie up (not very well! ) I can't figure out how to use the ring slings with my newborns. I never really got the hang of it with my first until she was 4 months old. My babe is little, 7lbs and I'm a plus size momma (5'5 and 200lbs). Please help me come up with a solution! My baby only wants to sleep on me and my husband will be going back to work soon and I will need to entertain the 2.5 year old which I can't do very well one-handed! I'm looking through the archives as well for info. I know a great many people speak highly of the ring slings, maybe I need a "slinging for dummies" manual?

Thanks in advance.

Nikki, have you been to http://www.thebabywearer.com? I would advise you to go and look under "Articles" at the category called "Using your baby carrier." You will find a wide selection of illustrated, step-by-step instructions and video clips. I would stay away from the boards until you have perused the instructions, though, just because it can be a bit overwhelming if you are already confused.

Zolowear website has some great videos for use with the ring sling and TBW has some trouble shooting tips as well. Can you describe what problem you are having with it?

I say go to www.thebabywearer.com also. There is such a wealth of b'wearing info that you can find there. I was completely ignorant about b'wearing until I went there. You can post questions if you have problems also. Everyone is so helpful there. I TBW!!!

check this out, this cross carry (with your long fleece) is super super easy. i use it with a knit wrap i hemmed. really i have never wron a baby (i always just carried my first) and I figured it out. i was actually parousing to find another carry now that i have that one down so well. my newborn loved it, they are snuggled up just like in the womb. plus if you need to bend over for something you can just pull some cloth up over their head well you bend down and it holds the head in place (this trick is great when a toddler is involved!!!)

Thanks for your replies ladies! Boy, it sure is much more of a challange with two kiddo's now! I haven't sat down or even logged on to the computer since my initial question. I'll try to look at those sites.
