Holt's Recommendation on Math

Can someone refer me to where I can find this? I know what his recommendation is on reading, but not math. Is there a specific book that addresses this in?

he discusses math in various books, I'm sure its mentioned in Tech your own, Learning all the time, and How children learn. I don't have any with me, but I'll check when I get home.

I'm not sure which book you can find it in, but I was under the impression that Holt's feelings on learning math were similar to his feelings on learning anything - that kids will learn it best by meeting it in daily life. I know he thought letting kids take part in balancing the family budget was one really great way to learn math, as well as fractions in cooking, etc. etc.

i also remember, from how children learn or learning all the time (don't remember which), that Holt suggested just giving kids manipulatives such as cuisinaire rods and letting them play - that they'd just figure out a lot of math concepts based on the rod relationships.
