For the record
Deborah Tannen is a highly respected linguist who does an amazing job of making the interesting ways we communicate a topic for everyone's reading pleasure.
Some say she may have 'stolen' the title of her book about gender talk "He Said She Said" from Marjorie H.Goodwin, an highly respected anthropologist who wrote a groundbreaking academic work of the same title about talk as social organization among African American children in Philadelphia, published in 1990. Only difference is the punctuation:
"He Said, She Said" vs "He-Said-She-Said".
I guess that's okay, then?
They know each other, too. Hmm.
