what do you know about coop preschool?

Does anyone have experience with coop preschool? My daughter has been in two now over her 3 years. The first one had a teacher who also had the title education director. The buck, so to speak, stopped with her. That was clear. But, in our new one, we don't have anyone in that role. There is the teacher, the parent educator, the board chair and the rest of us all have jobs. But who runs the preschool? I mean, who makes the ultimate decisions and who tells people when they are doing something wrong?

What do you think? Is the board chair of a coop preschool the boss? Or is the nature of cooperative preschool that everyone shares in the running of the school and therefore everyone is on equal footing, with no one in the role of boss or disciplinarian? How are problems handled, like someone not doing their job well?

We have a highly experienced preschool/parent educator as the leader of our preschool co-op. She's very diplomatic and democratic about most things, but she's definitely the one in charge when it comes down to it. It has been a great experience all round for us.

Is there someone you can call at the school to discuss your ?s and concern...an admission's person?

My dd attended a co-op preschool when she was 3. There was a "director" to oversee the school but did not "govern" the decisions/policies...that was up the board made up of teachers and parents. I/we/she had an awesome experience at the co-op!
