ds6 is having #2 accidents....help?

My son will turn 6 next week and for the last few weeks, he has been starting to "go" in his pants....Basically #2 starts to come out before he gets to the bathroom. He has this problem with #1 sometimes. I am baffled though and frankly a little concerned because when he was a baby he had a partial obstruction in his small bowel (due to complications as a preemie). Every once in a while, he still has funky episodes with his tummy but hasnt had "accidents" since he was potty training. Is this common? We have had a lot of change in our house recently ( a foster baby went home last week after being with us for almost 7 months) We've also been talking about putting him in school (instead of homeschooling him). Part of me thinks he's just waiting too long....he really has been having some big attention issues lately....so I wonder if he gets distracted and forgets to go to the bathroom and it's too late? What do you all think? Thanks

When my 7 yr old dd was between 5-6 she would do the same thing. I know with her it was just being caught up in what she was doing and realizing a little to late she had to get to the bathroom. It does sound like you have had a few changes so it could be due to that. If you're worried about the issues he had as a baby why not talk to his pedi about it if it continues. What does your ds say when this happens?
