Eczema

Anyone else struggling with this? Samara's had skin issues since birth, but I thought it was just "baby acne". But in the past couple of weeks it's changed to something more like what I believe is eczema. She's got red rough patches all over her forehead, scalp, cheeks, shoulders, and chest. It is SO dry. I'll oil it and then 10 min later, dry as a bone again. She's been scratching and making herself bleed. We've resorted to baby mits for her hands at night. Here's what I've tried and hasn't worked- Burt's Bees Apricot oil, Olive oil, vaseline.

From the research I've done so far here's what we'll do:

1. Bathe in lukewarm water only....using moisurizing soap only if she's especially stinky. I got Aveeno baby wash especially for dry skin.

2. Use Aveeno baby creme (we got unscented and the formula that is made for extremely dry skin) multiple times a day.

3. Use cool mist humidifier in bedroom.

4. HOPE that this does the trick. If not.....

5. Start dairy elimination diet. Give this time to work....if not.....

6. Start wheat elimination diet.

Hmm I know nothing about this as far as babies are concerned, but a friend of a friend had good results by alternating warm and cold (like in the shower or bath). Apparently it shocks your nervous system and improves circulation or something. Not that you'd want to do that to your baby....

This works wonders on Savannah's face.
