What do you wash baby with?

DS is sensitive to soaps. Any ideas what to do?

Try oil? Today I "washed" DD with Waleda Calendula oil and no water. It did such a good job with cradle cap that I just kept going. Just rubbed it in... not sure if this is orthodox, but...it did seem to work. She has been sensitive to even natural baby soaps, so this was a good discovery. You could probably use olive oil?

I've washed ds' hair with soap maybe 4 times total. He gets a soak in the tub about twice a week, and wipes with plain water for diaper changes.

I will try the oil. I mentioned in the other thread, he gets the acne and gets all red and blotchy. Only on the face and head though. Thanks for the suggestion.

I've never used soap on my baby. I always use Burt's Bees Milkbath....it is awesome!

i haven't used anything at all, but we take very frequent baths together. sometimes i rub apricot oil on after but nothing to wash him per se. should i be doing that?

I like kiss my face or TJ orange blossom and honey soap. And then I rub her down with grapeseed oil after. But she gets bathed usually 2 times a week with a daily wipe down of the 5 fs (face, finger, feet, front and fanny )

Hands down my favorite baby stuff is Arbonne ABC. The body wash and lotion and oil. I had a friend send me tons of sample packs but I am now out and need to order some bottles. The stuff smells sooooooooooooooo good. I hate vanilla and lavender and it seem like lots of naturalish baby stuff has one of those scents.

is the burts bees stuff tear free ?

Darcy when something is tearfree it actually has a chemical in it that numbs the eyes. Not really tearfree baby just can't feel the burn. IMO Get a visor to keep it out of the eyes and use the natural stuff.

I use just water on both my boys' bodies, and I use Burt's Bees shampoo bar on the baby (he has a full head of 2" long hair already!) My 3 yr. old uses kid's shampoo and conditioner. I bathe the big one every other day and the baby once a week.

just warm water and homemade glycerin soap from a friend
until 2-14 dh bought Dr Bronners Hemp Unscented Pure Castille Soap for Archer.

I use diluted Dr Bronner's organic unscented liquid castile soap.

burt's bees buttermilk soap on the baby everywhere, same for jewely but i use the shampoo bar on her hair. the great thing about the shampoo bar is it washes out SOOOO easy. you don't have to fight with it, or pour gobs of water on her head. i just use a very wet washclothe and wipe it out, one swipe usually does it, making the process tear free (b/c i am not fighting with her to rinse it out, she really hates it )

plus the stuff smells great!!

We are not so much onto the naturals here : but the burts Bee's sounds interesting. Walgreens has thier products now, mabey I'll look into them. What I have been using for Sam is Cetaphil. We bought a $7 bottle before he was born and still have a enough for a few more baths. It can be found with the other skin care products like Oil of Oilay.

We use nothing except water. LOL I did the same w/ Jevin until he was about 1.5.

just water here too ..... maybe once a swipe of burts bees soap on a sore-looking, gunky neck fold.

Usually just water. If there is something that *has* to have more than water, I'd recommend a gentle oil-based soap. I've washed my 16-month-old's hair maybe three times in her lifetime -- like when it got something sticky in it. I use something non-commercial and unscented. Here is one shampoo I like: http://www.caycecures.com/Holiday/catalog/oosh.htm
