Best English bands?

I was watching Jools Holland the other night, and really enjoyed seeing a great English band play called "Embrace".

They sang a fantastic song called "Ashes".

I am not really a follower of rock n'roll or pop, but I know there are some really talented English bands coming out. Used to really like "Verve", and friends go on about Radiohead.

Anyone else into Embrace or any other good bands?

Eek, I'm just jealous you get Jools Holland! We only had him for a bit AFAIK... I have him as a tivo wishlist so I don't miss it if they put him on something again!

That said, I'll just watch this space, I love a lot of english bands. There is a really good Irish band called The Frames.

Just listened to Embrace on Rhapsody... not bad! That song is good, I started to listen to another that was so so...

What's Rhapsody? I think Ashes needs to be heard in good quality sound to be fully appreciated. Yeah, I didn't like so much some of the other songs I streamed off their website, but only listened to a few.

Jools Holland is great! On this one show they featured live, Jackson Browne, Anita Baker, the Cure, and KT Tunstall. It was so good.

It is a type of music service, I guess you'd say. My dh has us hooked up, all I know is I can go online and listen to a ton of cool stuff.

Oh man, the Cure. Dh calls them the ugliest band around.

Franz Ferdinand are Scottish, I think. But still very good.

Coldplay, of course

Travis.

Blur.

The Smiths.

The Libertines.

The Dandy Warhols.

Massive Attack.

Thirsty Merc and Evermore are Australian, but remind me of quite a few British bands.

The Darkness.

I think the Dandy Warhols are from Portland, OR....
Keane makes me want to stab myself in the eye. Dh thinks I'm weird.

James!!!! The singer, Tim Booth, is solo now.
The Smiths
The Psychedelic Furs
The Cure
New Order
The Clash

Okay, so apparently I don't know it is 2006, and to think, I was in elementary school when most of these bands were big!

But really--JAMES!!
