Finished my Mei Tai

Thanks to the person who posted the web site to make your own baby carrier I've finally finished making a Mei Tai for Aveena. I'm interested to see how she'll like it, and can't really afford to buy a new one in case she doesn't.

It took ages to make, not cause it was hard, but cause I never usually get some uninteruped time - I think really in total it took about 1 1/2 hrs, but that happened over a couple of weeks

So now I only have to figure out how to use it

OK, so I tried it and her legs turned blue. Not good. I used the front carry with her facing me.

Any ideas? What did i do wrong? Is she too young to have her legs out (8 weeks) - if so, what do you do with her legs?

Help!!!

Try her froggy style. Facing you, but instead of her legs dangling out the sides, have them tucked under her spread a bit...just like a frog. I sometimes have a hard time putting Samara in this position because she wants to stand with her legs straight. So I have to help her and bend her legs into froggy position. Then I tie it under her butt and not on her back. This supports her well.

Good luck!!!

See the pic of my dh wearing her froggy style in my siggy.

yup, frog style. did you make your mt with an adjustable width on the bottom? if not maybe try that. i make mine with a kinda 'sleeve' fir the bottom strap to go through so i can make it skinny if he wants legs out or wide for froggy. i can find a pic if you need.
they are fun to make though arent they? i made one and then had to go make 3 more

I'd love to make more - just not sure about the time factor. Maybe when Aveena gets a little older and is sleeping better

The sleeve thing sounds like a good idea - and I'm guessing you just kind of make a pocket with open sides for the bottom tie, is that right? I'll try it with the next one

Here is the web site

You'll have to hunt around a bit to see what you want to make, but it's really user friendly.
