my 5 yo son and i had a talk about shadows a few minutes ago, and he was drawing off of a conversation we had about shadows a couple of nights ago ~
michael: ... why aren't there shadows when it's dark?
me: well, remember, the shadows are made by light hitting something -- so if there's no light when it's dark, then there can't be shadows.
michael: but there's no shadows!
me: right, because you need light for shadows to be made. ... if there's no light, where else would the shadows come from?
michael: the playground!
me:
