Wearing babies significantly slows their development - Page 2

That's great! Way to go DS! I actually have more people curious about the sling and saying how comfy it looks. (1 guy asked if I would carry him too!) I saw a new mom in a restraunt holding her dd who was 4 days older than mine and trying to eat, I had my dd in the sling where she was happy as a clam and I had 2 hands to eat. She immeaditly asked where she could get one! I can't believe that some people can be so rude as to try to "educate" a complete stranger. I would never walk up to someone with their child in a stroller saying how they are stunting their development by using a stroller.

My son is quite a bit older so now I just get the looks like I am the top circus freak. Seems that around here it is cute to carry a baby in a sling (or other carrier) but once they can walk it is just weird. : My son is almost 5. I haven't wore him in approx a year but I just started again because he isn't able to keep up on the field trips we do with my older son. Talk about getting looks. Yesterday we were at the zoo and as we were getting our tickets he asked to be picked up so after paying we stepped aside and put him on my back in our Mei Tei. I got a <humpf> from the lady next in line and a "COOL!!!!" from her daughter.

That's just silly.

Most kids aren't walking till 2? She just made that up. Or got it confused with.... hmm, can't think of anything, so she made it up.

Happy Babywearing!

[QUOTE=mamamelia]i still carry her at 17 months old.. and still get odd looks at the shopping center. QUOTE]

One time I had a little old lady come up to me while I was wearing ds2,then about 8 months,in the Kozy on my back at Old Navy. She started right in,"What if he falls out?" Aren't you worried he will fall out??", Me:"He won't fall out. It's much safer than a stroller or a plastic infant seat teetering on the edge of a shopping cart basket"
"What if your other boy comes up behind you and pulls those ties out from under him??" Said the old lady. Me: "They are tied in a knot". "Oh,my...I just hope he doesn't fall out of that thing" said the old lady.
I just smiled and kept going at that point. People are so funny sometimes.
